Best Gluten Free Dining in Ojai, CA

This post is not sponsored by any of the restaurants below. I’m truly just a fan of these places!

Ojai is about an hour and a half drive from Los Angeles, CA, and it’s such a relaxing small town. Surrounded by mountains, its known for its artistic community, spiritual retreats, and natural beauty. There’s a ton of outdoor activities, spas, and delicious food. And the good news is, you can find some amazing gluten free dining.

Here are some of the best dining I found in Ojai, CA:

The Nest

401 East Ojai Avenue

Website | Instagram

The Nest is not 100% gluten free, but has some exceptional gluten free options. From appetizers to main courses, the menu caters to gluten-sensitive diners without compromising on flavor. The charming outdoor ambiance, coupled with attentive staff, creates a memorable dining experience.

The Nest changes their menu frequently based on season and what ingredients are the freshest, so make sure to check out their menu to see what gluten free options they have! For example, I had some delicious fish tacos and crispy Brussels sprouts.

Sage Bistro

217 E Matilija St

Sage Bistro was the perfect breakfast spot that has a huge glass case with lots of organic and gluten-free baked goods made from scratch to choose from!

I enjoyed a delicious lemon bundt cake, as well as a breakfast plate with egg, sausage, and gluten free toast.

UPDATE: Unfortunately it’s been reported that this location has closed.

The Dutchess

457 E Ojai Avenue

The Dutchess is a culinary gem in Ojai. This Burmese-American restaurant offers unique and delicious meals during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At the time I went, they didn’t indicate which meals were gluten free on the menu, but their waitstaff were very helpful and pointed out which dishes were safe.

Harvest Moon

307 E Ojai Ave

Website | Instagram

Gluten free fried chicken and waffles – do I need to say any more?

We went to Harvest Moon on the last day of our trip, but I wish we went the first day, because they had so many gluten free options! I will definitely need to try the rest of their menu.
